And so the adventure begins...

Here are some photos of my newly-purchased home.  It is a 3 bedroom / 2 bath house.  1166 square feet.  No attic or basement.

It has a nice 2-car garage.  I'm not sure how crazy I am about the stonework.

Here's the front door, which is actually on the side of the house.  That's just a technicality.  Also featured is my agent Kevin.

Here's the living room.  The house has double-pane windows, a definite plus.  I like the ranch-style exposed rafters.
Here's the view from the living room, looking back towards the hallway.
Here's a view of the current kitchen.  It's not much to look at.  There are no appliances except for an old broken dishwasher.  There's a skylight overhead.
This nice area off the kitchen was probably the dining area.  It has a far squarer shape than the existing galley kitchen, so I plan on moving the kitchen into this area when I remodel.  The sliding doors lead out to the patio.
Here's the guest bathroom.  It has a well-placed skylight.  The vanity is new.  The tilework is hideous, as is the wallpaper.  The mirror is missing.
The shower looks decent.  That's about it for the guest bathroom.
The master bath is similarly-sized but is worse for wear.
This is the utility closet.  The house has a gas water heater, as well as a furnace for central heat.  The furnace is broken.
Here's the third bedroom.  The second bedroom looks about the same.  The aging carpet will probably have to go.
The master bedroom has a door out to the patio.  The flooring in the master bedroom is laminate tile.... I'm not sure what anybody was thinking there.
Here's a view of the back patio.  The overhead situation is a bit of a mess, but it should be possible to dismantle without too much hassle.
And finally, the backyard.  Needs some TLC.  There are two sheds out there; one of 'em has to go.

  1. Looks like some great work ahead. Any plans for the new kitchen layout? Bathroom?

And I hope you're hiring a good team to get through that in 6 weeks.

  2. Yeah, I have some rather grandiose plans. I have a CAD model of the house in Google SketchUp that I have been playing with for over a month. I'm planning on renovating the common areas first, starting with the kitchen.
