The roof is just about done now. I have one row of shingles left. But working in the dark is a real challenge, so I instead spent last evening working on the interior walls.
First up was that obnoxious faux wall that had been erected in the living room. You remember this one from my first post.
The panels pry off fairly easily, exposing the framing.
Power tools made short work of the rest of the framing. Since it is non-structural (and probably put in without permit) I just went ahead and tore it out. That alone opens up the living area quite a bit.
It turns out that even this opening is non-structural. I was able to remove that frame as well, which gets me back to the desired look of exposed roof rafters with an open floorplan. My explorations in the drywall made a bit of a mess, which I had only partially cleaned up when I took this picture.
I did manage to salvage a ton of wood and a door from my efforts. Maybe this stuff will come in handy down the road....
