Tape 'n Mud

With the drywall up, the interior starts to look more like a house.  But there's much work still to be done to make it look like a finished wall.  The basic idea is to cover all the seams and leave the wall looking smooth.  I started in the garage for practice.

Drywall screws are sunk slightly below the surface of the wall so that they can be hidden under mud.

Seams and corners are taped by applying a layer of mud, then pressing the tape into the mud, and then applying more mud over the tape.  The mud is applied in progressively-wider coats.

Finally, the mud is sanded to achieve a smooth surface.  It looks a bit odd in this state, but once the wall is painted, you'd never know that all this lies beneath.
