It was a nice day out yesterday, so I took a break from the usual grind to get rid of the mess that had overgrown my back patio. You may recall the deteriorating plastic roofing and the chain mesh fence from the initial photos.
First I took down the chain mesh fence. It was fairly simple work, for the most part. The posts are quite a bit more complicated, as they are embedded in concrete. They can wait for some other time when I rent a jackhammer.
Unfortunately, someone managed to get the base of one fence segment embedded in some poured concrete. This is where a dremel comes in handy. I was able to saw off the fence at the precise spots that the metal protruded from the concrete.
After making short work of the fence, I turned my attention to the plastic siding covering the patio area. After some snipping and prying, it all came down and was stacked in an orderly pile until I can figure out what to do with it.
It started getting dark out, so I left dismantling the various support poles for another time. I feel like it's a bg improvement already though, just having those plastic flaps out of the way.
