Over the course of the week, the concrete has been excavated and prepared for the pour, with rebar for added for reinforcement. In this photo, you can see where the piers will be poured. Those are the positions of the future posts that will support the ridge once that wall is completely removed (although the posts will not be nearly that wide).
Here is where the new foundation will be poured to extend the kitchen area into a portion of the garage space. One small problem - the contractor managed to hit a water line while excavating the concrete between the kitchen and the garage. They capped it off for now, so I can use water in the rest of the house - but no laundry until that gets fixed properly.
The exterior framing work has also come along nicely. Doors and windows have been placed. In particular, you can see the outline of the future opening for the walk-out bay window on the right side of this photo.
Framing for the interior walls and closets has been completed. Here you can see the framing for the interior wall and closet between the two bedrooms at the rear of the house.
Here you can see the framing for the wall of the third bedroom, as well as closets for the entryway and bedroom.
As new walls are framed, I try to keep up with the wiring for outlets, switches, and fixtures along the new walls.

Do not fall into the holes!
