My first shower after move-in yielded a few surprises. The ball joint on the showerhead was leaking water, shooting jets out of its sides at strange angles. Even though I'm not planning on renovating the bathrooms until later, this obviously needed some immediate attention. Also, when I was done with the shower, I couldn't get the water to shut off properly - there was a continuous drip at the tub faucet. After yet another trip to the store, I installed a brand new showerhead and replaced the portion of the faucet with the leaky seal. I might have been able to save a few extra bucks by only replacing the washer, but it wasn't worth having to make an extra trip to the store if I was wrong.
The bathroom still looks ugly, but at least now it is minimally functional.
